Ms. Burnett received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and French in 1996 from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. She graduated magna cum laude. She received a Juris Doctor degree in 2001 from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. Ms. Burnett was a Member of the American Bar Association Real Property Probate & Trust Journal in 2000 and 2001, and received the Outstanding Writing Competition Entry in the Spring of 1999. Other academic honors included Dean's List and Who's Who American Law Students, 1999-2001.
After law school, Ms. Burnett served as a law clerk to the Honorable G. Ross Anderson, Jr. in United States District Court in Anderson, South Carolina. Ms. Burnett began her private practice handling the defense of a variety of claims in both federal and state court as an Associate with the law firms of Leatherwood Walker Todd & Mann, P.C. and Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC, in Greenville, South Carolina. Ms. Burnett focused the majority of her practice in the defense of nursing home abuse claims. Ms. Burnett joined Standeffer & Harbin in July of 2007, focusing her practice in the area of Nursing Home Abuse.
Ms. Burnett is a member of the American Bar Association and Litigation Section; the South Carolina and Greenville County Bar Associations; the American Association for Justice, and the South Carolina Association for Justice. Ms. Burnett is admitted to practice before all South Carolina State Courts, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
